The mission of the
Experience AHS program is to showcase the many unique opportunities within the College, offering a glimpse of what
students experience in the classroom and in the field. The majors in the College include Recreation, Sport and Tourism; Kinesiology;
Interdisciplinary Health (i-Health); Community Health; and Speech and Hearing Science. The College of Applied Health Sciences offers
first-class educational experiences and complements the classroom experiences with opportunities for students to apply what they have
learned.
Please join the faculty, staff and students throughout the day on March 10, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Contrary to some outsider beliefs, most AHS students spend more time flexing our brains than our biceps. In choreographing
this routine, I had a lot of fun doing both. Because I appreciate the value of exercise, but not the tedium of cardio machines,
my workouts consist of free dancing to whatever music I feel like listening to at the time – punk-influenced hardcore bands, African
djembe drums, anything. When the Experience AHS committee thought to do a flash mob, I could not resist applying some of my favorite
workout moves to a song that lyrically exemplifies what my experience in AHS has been all about – helping others flourish. Putting
this together was just another way to share my healthy passions with others through engaging applications, which is basically what
I do every day in AHS! –Paula Chmiel, Senior i-Health
